Delusions of Grandeur

Don’t Quit

Posted on: September 2, 2003

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
when the road you are trudging seems all up hill,
when the funds are low and the debts are high,
and you want to smile but you have to sigh,
when care is pressing you down a bit.
Rest, if you must , but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with it’s twists and turns,
as everyone of us sometimes learns,
and many a failure turns about,
when you might have won had you stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow
you may succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside-out-
the silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
and you may never can tell how close you are.
It maybe near when it seems so far,
so stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit-
it’s when things seem worst that you must not quit!

I love this poem. I think i heard it for the first time back in the 7th or 8th grade. I don’t remember where, but I’ve had it on a bookmark for years. It and The Man In The Glass are my all time favorites, and definitely the two that cheer me up the most when I’m feeling down. Alright, back to the stupid log books again. Is it possible to develop carpal tunnel syndrome in only one afternoon?
