Alright my favorite of those is definitely Taffy Sunkist…..in fact I think I’ll go petition to have my name changed to that tomorrow…..although JoLene Bliss is kinda cool too, well…..except for the fact that I hate my middle name, and the bad pun lover in me couldn’t resist Absolut Lee. ๐Ÿ™‚ But yeah…..Taffy Sunkist all the way!

I FINALLY HAVE MY DSL BACK!!!! I missed it SO MUCH!!! So much I find myself inescapably forced to type in ALL CAPS. Of course that probably won’t last long, mainly because I’ve got a KILLER headache and I know that my time of looking at this screen is limited, but I just wanted to let everybody know that I’m once again a member of civilized society, no more crappy dial up for me baby!

HUGS LOVE AND FAST INTERNET TO ALL!

Oh yeah, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Angela!

FAIRY TALE

Once upon a time there has a young POPE named DANIEL. He was SUCCESSFULLY FLYING in the SILLY forest when he met BEAUTIFUL JASON, a run-away BLACKSMITH from the FANTASTIC Queen JESSICA.

DANIEL could see that BEAUTIFUL JASON was hungry so he reached into his ZIPLOC BAG and give him his ANACHRONISTIC ITALIAN. BEAUTIFUL JASON was thankful for DANIEL‘s ITALIAN, so he told DANIEL a very APPLE FLAVORED story about Queen JESSICA‘s daughter ANGELA. How her mother, the FANTASTIC Queen JESSICA, kept her locked away in a CATHEDRAL protected by a gigantic DRAGON, because ANGELA was so STRANGE.

DANIEL RAN. He vowed to BEAUTIFUL JASON the BLACKSMITH that he would save the STRANGE ANGELA. He would FALL the DRAGON, and take ANGELA far away from her eveil mother, the FANTASTIC Queen JESSICA, and RULE her.

Then, all of the sudden, there was a PURPLE RAIN and BEAUTIFUL JASON the BLACKSMITH began to laugh. With a puff of smoke he turned into the gigantic DRAGON from his story. FANTASTIC Queen JESSICA DROVE out from behind a SHOE and struck DANIEL dead. In the far off CATHEDRAL you could hear a BUZZ.

THE END.

Today has been pretty peaceful. We slept until almost 1 and then had a lazy breakfast. After that we started trying to accomplish a few things around the house. The end result is that all the art is now hung so there aren’t random scattered paintings in every room, my dresser is starting to look like an actual dresser instead of a storage pit, my shoes are all neatly organized on my new shoe rack and I’ve finally boxed up, wrapped and addressed all the packages that are a result of my San Francisco trip. I’ve decided to facilitate the actual sending of the packages that I should group them into as few packages as possible. As a result every family member I have in Texas must now make a trip to my grandmother’s house……oh yeah, Angela has to too……that is, if she ever wants her birthday present, although by the time I actually send this present it’ll likely be long past her birthday. ๐Ÿ™‚ I figure I’ll send it next Thursday after I get paid again, I’m too close to broke to send it this pay period……although where the money goes I’ll always wonder.

On a different note, I got my hair cut yesterday. I really like it. It’s not nearly as short as the last time I cut it, but still very easy to maintain. I just couldn’t handle the nasty “growing out an old haircut” look any more. I figure if I just get it cut every three months to increasingly longer lengths I’ll eventually get it grown out to where it should be again without having to go through too much of an ackward phase. Granted it’ll take much longer to grow out this way, but it’s not like it would have happened over night the other way either.

I’m not sure if I mentioned it on here yet, but Seth got to put out a fire in our parking garage the other night. Some lady’s truck was shooting flames out the passenger window….it was a good thing she hadn’t parked even one spot over or she would have likely caught the trees that are on the edge of the garage on fire! She didn’t even know about the fire until long after everything was over. The truck is still sitting in the same place though, I wonder what they’re going to do with it? Anyhow, that was completely irrelevant but since I wasn’t sure I had written about it when it happened I figured I would post it now just so it was recorded for me to look back at a year from now and go “ooooh, I remember when that happened,” ’cause I’m wierd and I like doing that sort of thing.

Not alot else to report today but I’m trying to get back in the regular posting habit despite the lack of fast access internet. I’m becoming increasingly annoyed with Earthlink though and am trying to remember that I like them and that they’ve always been a very convenient company in the past. I suppose that’s all for today, tune in tomorrow for yet another riveting episode of “Nikki’s Life”

Well, not alot new to report here. I still don’t have DSL, although the blame for that is currently residing somewhat uneasily on my own shoulders…..but I’ve pretty much worked out a way to shift that. ๐Ÿ™‚ Turns out I gave the company the wrong phone number….the new number and one of my work numbers are remarkably similar and I keep getting them mixed up in my head. However, if the company had started implementing the change two weeks ago like they were supposed to I would have found out about this much sooner and been able to correct it……see, there goes the blame shifting! ๐Ÿ™‚

Work has been pretty hectic, but is still satisfying. It’s nice to not have every day be the same old stuff, although definitely a bit stressful.

Home is still a bit transitional, we didn’t end up moving the stuff from seth’s parents garage until monday and I’ve been sick so I haven’t really done anything, although I’m feeling much better so those finishing touches (which is all that’s actually left) will be done this weekend, most likely tonight.

In other random news I got my christmas presents from Jessica’s family this week. They actually came in last week but I wasn’t able to get to the post office until Tuesday. I got this really pretty cameo ring from Daddy that he’s given all of us girls along with a really sweet note about how no matter how far away I am he’s always there for me. Her family is just amazing. They truly are more my family that my own family is.

Speaking of my family, I’ve had this strange rash of communication with my father, which has been nice, if a bit disconcerting. I still haven’t heard back from my mother, but no surprise (and quite a bit of relief) there.

Anyhow, I suppose I should get back to work, just figured I would update while I have a chance. As always, all paragraph breaks are courtesy of friendly reminders from Katie. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hugs and love to all!

I know….I know……if you guys go too long without posting I bitch, whine, complain and make a huge nuisance of myself until you get your acts together and start updating and then I disappear for the better part of a week. But it’s not my fault, really…..blame stupid Earthlink who STILL hasn’t switched on my DSL at the new place, and in fact was still CHARGING me for DSL at the old place until Thursday when I called and yelled at them for half an hour about how incompetent they are and how I’m not going to pay them at all for the switch if they don’t get it done in the amount of time they said they would, etc, etc, etc…..

I must say, it was quite mean, but it seems to have worked. Whereas nothing had been done on my account as of Thursday, today I checked and the switch is well under way, they’ve FINALLY taken that stupid moving fee out of my bank account, they undid the dsl charges from the 29th of December forward and in fact didn’t even charge me for DSL at ALL last month, even though technically I should have paid it from the 16th through the 29th, and today I walked in and saw the DSL sync light on my modem flashing briefly which means they were probably testing the line or something. I should probably have DSL again by Tuesday at the latest. Which means I’ll be back to my regular updates. My dial-up connection is ridiculously slow though, something like 14.4 most of the time, although I’ve seen it go as high as 30-something, which is still pretty pathetic. Needless to say, slow internet is depressing so I’ve just not been on the internet for the past week at home and have been too busy at work to have time to log on. So I’m sorry I haven’t updated, and promise I’ll be more regular soon, but will be accepting no recriminations for my hypocritical behavior. ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyhow, life is pretty normal around here right now. We STILL haven’t completely settled in, partly because we were still moving things up until thursday. I’m currently trying to think of ways to re-arrange the second bedroom/office, I hate the way it’s set up right now and it’s only a matter of time before I figure out a more ideal arrangement. The living room and kitchen are pretty well set, we’re still trying to decide what we’re doing with the dining room and the master bedroom is about halfway finished, mainly due to the fact that I went to San Francisco last week and have been too busy and/or lazy this week to mess with it. This is a long weekend though so everything should be in place by the end of it….in fact I’m getting off here right now to get back to work, I just wanted to update and check up on everybody while I had a chance. Oh, and Angela sent around a really sweet chainletter (god I hate chainmail, but this really was sweet….well, minus the guilt trip on the end if you don’t forward it) so instead of going against all my natural tendencies and forwarding it (god help me if it ever comes to that!) I figured I would just put it here and that takes care of everybody. ๐Ÿ™‚
Hugs and love,
Nikki

(I deleted most of the story, it was too long and came annoyingly close to making me cry, so I’ve selected the pertinant, non-crying parts to put here.) ๐Ÿ™‚

“I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright. I wish you enough rain to
appreciate the sun more. I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit
alive. I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much
bigger. I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting. I wish you enough loss
to appreciate all that you possess. I wish enough “Hello’s” to get you through
the final “Good-bye.”
My friends and loved ones, I wish you ENOUGH!!!

As you can probably guess from the title, I made it home. Since the title doesn’t explicitly state it, I’ll tell you that I’m safe and in one piece. My wallet, however, is battletorn and dying……the main damage was done to my checkcard, but all other forms of payment took major hits as well. Bet you didn’t know the shopping areas of San Francisco were a war zone did ya? I’m tellin’ you they are……and I lost big time!!! But that’s okay because I nowhave lots of cool stuff. Granted, most of it is only temporarily mine since I bought most of it for other people, but the stuff I am keeping is really cool too. I also got a cold, but they didn’t make me pay for that. ; )

Okay, so enough about the stuff. On to the city. I LOVED San Francisco. Everywhere you looked was something interesting to look at; it was almost as easy to get around there as it is in London ( I say almost because I had to ask the information people questions several times whereas if you follow all the signs or hundreds of maps available of the public transit system in London then it’s pretty self-explanatory); the people were beyond nice, don’t know where I got the impression that Californians are generally rude, but I can vouch that at least the San Francisco variety are very pleasant.

I only had Saturday to really spend the entire day being a tourist, but I really made as much of it as possible. I started off the day by taking the trolley down to Fisherman’s Wharf, wandered around through Pier 39, got some hopefully cool pictures of the sea lions — they were playing “king of the wooden dock thingy” it was totally cute, then took a cruise around the bay and listened to some random actor on a tape tell me some of the history of the golden gate bridge, alcatraz, angel island, the bay bridge and the fires that happened as a result of the earthquake in 1906.

After the cruise I wandered over to Ghiradelli square, taking note of the fact that there’s an In and Out burger down there, which seth had wanted me to try….he (rightfully as it turns out) claims it’s the best fast food burger available. I wandered around Ghiradelli square for a bit, got some free chocolate, read all the little historic signs and then decided to make my way to the legion of honor. Turns out that once you get past Divisidero street they don’t scale the map anymore so what looks like a simple six blocks past Divisidero is actually more like 40. Thankfully I asked the information guy how to get there on the Muni before I took off on foot or I’m pretty sure those hills would have killed me.

Anyhow, I’m finding myself increasingly bored with this post so I think I’ll just stop there and maybe post the rest of the details later. Let’s just leave it at “I had tons of fun, did lots of shopping and wish I had more time, but am glad to be back home where room service doesn’t cost me a thing!”

once again, all paragraph breaks are courtesy of Katie. Congrats on your move, I hope you’re settling into your new apartment comfortably and that all is well. ๐Ÿ™‚
